The first printed recipe for a dessert called crème brulée is from the 1691 edition of the French cookbook Le Cuisinier Royal et Bourgeois, by Francois Massialot, who cooked at Versailles.
It has stood the test of time and has traveled the world. It comes in many varieties such as chocolate, coffee, or raspberry. But my favorite is the original.
I will definitely be in search of it on my next cruise!
